When you are ready to talk with someone about life insurance, the best person is a life insurance agent or professional financial advisor.
One good way to locate a qualified insurance agent or other financial advisor is to ask for recommendations from friends and professionals such as your lawyer or accountant. Ask about the person’s experience and background, and make sure he or she specializes in the services and products you need. You also may want to ask if the agent has received any special certifications such as Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). These designations mean the person has taken advanced courses and may have specialized training and knowledge from which you could benefit. Above all, you want to select an agent or advisor who listens well and will take the time to understand your unique goals.
When you ask a licensed agent or financial advisor for help, there are no additional costs or charges relating to the purchase of life insurance, whether you choose that agent or an online service.
William Penn Life Insurance Company of New York's products are sold through a network of independent life brokerage agencies that represent the nation’s premiere life insurance providers. An agent will recommend William Penn when, in his or her professional opinion, our products are most appropriate for your personal or business life insurance needs. If you currently have an insurance agent, he or she might already represent William Penn; many do because of our competitively priced life insurance products.
If you don’t have an agent, you can locate a William Penn general agency in your area that can introduce you to one of their licensed professionals.
What To Expect
The process for buying life insurance is pretty easy:
- From our Learning Center, you can research your options with our
product selector, read about the different types of life insurance
and use tools to estimate how much life insurance you need
or call your licensed financial professional. He or she will take some preliminary information
from you. He or she will then work with you to determine which policy is right for you and
help you make the best choice for your needs.
- After you and your licensed financial professional fill out an application for life
insurance, a medical examination will be scheduled in your home or your office. The examiner
may review your medical and health history, collect blood and urine specimens and possibly
administer other medical tests. In some cases, specific tests may be required that will
need to be given by your health care provider. The medical examinations are conducted at
our expense. Please be assured that we value your privacy and will keep any information
we collect confidential.
- Your licensed financial professional will contact you when the underwriting process is complete. If you are approved, he or she will arrange to deliver your policy.
Life insurance coverage is not in effect until your application is approved, and any outstanding policy requirements and your first premium payment have been received by us. Approval is not guaranteed.
